- Abinary - Abinary is an umbrella term for genders that are completely unrelated to the male/female gender binary.
- Ableism - Discrimination and social prejudice against physically or mentally disabled people. Often also weaponized against neurodivergent people.
- A.F.A.B. - Assigned Female At Birth
- A.G.A.B. - Assigned Gender At Birth
- Agender - A nonbinary identity, meaning without a gender or gender identity.
- A.I.A.B. - Assigned Intersex At Birth
- Aliagender - A gender experience which is “other”, or stands apart from existing gender constructs.
- Ally - Someone who supports the LGBTQIA+ community without being part of the community themself.
- A.M.A.B. - Assigned Male At Birth
- Ambigender -
- Available or common to more than one gender.
- A nonbinary identity related to androgyne, bigender, and/or genderfluid.
- Andor - A gender neutral honorific derived from "mr and/or miss." This honorific can be used in the same manner as the words "mr" and "miss" to refer to a person who prefers to use gender neutral language.
- Androgens - Hormones that activate male sex characteristics, such as testosterone.
- Androgyne - A gender which is a combination, blending, or in-between point between two genders (usually between the binary male and female genders). Often considered under the nonbinary umbrella. Androgynes may or may not present androgynously, and may or may not experience multiple genders.
- A person whose biological sex is not readily apparent, whether owing to chance or choice.
- A person who is intermediate between the two traditional genders.
- A person who rejects gender roles entirely.
- Androgynous/Androgyny -
- A gender presentation which is either a combination of male and female, or ambiguous between male and female, or which blends them, lies in the middle between them, or of an indeterminable gender or sex.
- Related to an androgyne gender identity.
- Androgynous of Center - Any of several gender identities that lean closer to “androgyne” than to male or female.
- Androqueerphobia - A word used to discuss bigotry targeted at queer masculinity and queer manhood.
- Anti-Androgens - Drugs that negate the effects of testosterone and other male hormones, usually given during adolescence to trans youth who do not wish to develop masculine features. A type of hormone blockers.
- Anti-Estrogens - Drugs that negate the effects of estradiol and other female hormones, usually given during adolescence to trans youth who do not wish to develop feminine features. A type of hormone blockers.
- Aporagender - A gender wherein the one who posesses it knows that the gender is not defined by masculinity or femininity.
- Archaeopronouns - Outdated pronouns which are no longer considered to be in standard use.
- Arenotelicon - A creature which alternates between male and female.
- Aromatization - The process through which the body converts androgens into estrogen. Someone whose body has an aromatase deficiency is unable to do this properly.
- A.S.A.B. - Assigned Sex At Birth
- Assigned Gender (At Birth) - The gender written down on your birth certificate.
- Assigned Sex (At Birth) - The gender identity imposed on someone by their family and by society. This gender is usually decided at birth or in utero, and is usually based on genitalia. Almost all people are assigned male or female at birth, even if they are born with ambiguous genitalia.
