Introduction

Not everyone who pursues phalloplasty is a binary transgender man. Not everyone who pursues vaginoplasty is a binary binary transgender woman. Not everyone who seeks out a gender-affirming surgery is transgender in the first place.

While nonbinary people are traditionally thought of as people who do not medically transition, this is not true. There are plenty of nonbinary people who experience gender dysphoria and/or seek to obtain gender euphoria through surgical and/or hormonal means. When this comes to surgeries regarding the genitalia, sometimes nonbinary people seek out non-traditional surgical routes.

Some transgender and/or nonbinary people seek out surgery without taking hormones ahead of time, though this can be difficult depending on the location, the surgery, or the surgeon. Some surgeries have either a legal or ethical requirement that you udnergo hormone therapy prior to surgery for better surgical results, though again, this is vary. There are typically variations of surgeries that allow for not taking hormones ahead of time, but they can be more difficult to obtain, or find a surgeon willing to perform said surgeries.

For people who were born with unconventional genitalia, see intersex. Note that someone who was born perisex cannot transition to become intersex, as this is impossible.

For people who seek to completely remove their genitalia without replacing it, see nullification.

General Information

Someone who is salmacian is someone who desires a mixed genital set. This typically means that the person wants to have both a penis and a vulva. This can be obtained through various surgeries. People who desire a mixed genital set typically identify as nonbinary.

For example; someone who was AFAB may get phalloplasty or metoidioplasty without getting a vaginectomy. Someone who was AMAB may get phallus-preserving vaginoplasty.
Please note that these are nowhere near the only possible options, as everyone's transition goals are different. Again, these are simply a few examples.

Salmacian Flag

The green in the flag represents normalization of genital non-conformity, and the aspiration towards having mixed genitals.

The yellow in the flag represents raising awareness of salmacians' existence, and gender euphoria from having mixed genitals.

The purple in the flag represents individualistic personal autonomy, and the fusion of different sexes.

The central emblem of the flag, the "Sign of Salmacis", consists of a lowercase sigma for “salmacian”, with waves to represent the sex-transforming Salmacis Spring of mythology.
