Introduction

Peri is a somewhat common varient of a mastectomy. This is a procedure typically sought out by transgender men (and some nonbinary folks) who experience gender dysphoria regarding having breasts. Only your surgeon can tell you if you qualify for peri, however this surgery has stricter requirements than some others (typically requiring that you have an A or B cup).

General Information

This surgery is recommended for those with moderate chest tissue and appropriate skin elasticity. Two circular inscisions are made - one directly around the edge of the areola, and a second one slightly larger than the first. The skin between the incisions is removed. The chest tissue is removed via liposuction. The two incisions are brought together in a similar effect as with a drawstring bag.

The nipple stalk is left intact and the nipple is typically not resized. Most patients typically retain all or most nipple sensation.

Revisions are required roughly 40% of the time to achieve a completely flat chest.
