What even is 'gender critical'?
The term is used to try and give a more neutral connotation to transphobia.
Gender critical is an ideology commonly associated with TERFs, where transphobia is sloppily disguised as femininsm. Women's rights are often brought up in ways designed to gain sympathy while simultaneously painting transgender people as some kind of sinister enemy to blame for misogyny.

Why should I care about this?
Being able to recognize and identify harmful ideas helps when fighting against them.
